Prior to joining the firm, Michaela practiced for 9 years with the Cook County Public Guardian where she represented the Public Guardian as legal guardian for disabled adults and served as the court appointed guardian ad litem for abused and neglected minors. Her experience with the Public Guardian provided her with a broad background in probate matters, litigation, and client counseling. While obtaining her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Michaela researched caregiver stress and depression as part of a study initiated by the Alzheimer’s Association. After graduating, she worked as a research assistant for a longitudinal study of brain aging through the National Institutes of Health. Michaela’s clinical background provides her with a unique perspective on elder law issues.
