Kathryn Casey received her Juris Doctor from DePaul College of Law. Her practice specializes in the area of elder law and includes adult guardianship estates, decedent’s estate administration, special needs trusts, and medicaid planning. Kathryn represents fiduciaries including guardians, trustees, executors and agents under Powers of Attorney. She also frequently represents elder abuse provider agencies in contested cases involving the abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of the elderly. She is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of special needs trusts and legal remedies to address elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. Prior to joining the firm, Kathryn practiced with the Cook County Public Guardian where she represented the Public Guardian as the court appointed guardian for disabled adults. While with the Public Guardian, Kathryn also served as court appointed guardian ad litem for abused and neglected minors in the Child Protection Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Kathryn has gained a wealth of experience working with the elderly, the disabled, the mentally ill and with victims of abuse and neglect of all ages. Her professional memberships include the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Illinois Chapter, the Chicago Bar Association, Estate Planning, Probate Practice, Mental Health and Disabilities, and Elder Law Committees, and the Illinois State Bar Association, Elder Law Section. Prior to law school, Kathryn received a Master of Arts in English Literature from DePaul University.
